Ducks Crossing
Wyong Regional Chronicle

At last, a Wyong Shire newspaper with in-depth Wyong Shire news!

Following on from the success of publishing the ever popular Peninsula News over the past 13 years, and more recently the addition of Coast Community News covering the remainder of the Gosford LGA, Ducks Crossing Publications has extended that same successful style and formula to publish a new fortnightly newspaper for Wyong Shire.

Wyong Regional Chronicle only carries news specific to post code areas 2258, 2259, 2261, 2262 and 2263, and in this way, is able to provide a wealth of information for readers interested in those areas.

The first edition of the Wyong Regional Chronicle was published on Monday, August 6, 2012. It is distributed to all businesses in the major CBDs in those post code areas, as well as in multiples of 50 to schools, clubs, newsagents, shopping malls, railway stations, libraries and service stations, in fact anywhere that large numbers of people are likely to be.

Experience has shown that, having a newspaper that concentrates on a small area rather than an entire region, has enormous community benefits. Events and activities that may not be included in a regional paper because of severe space restrictions are more likely to be included. Positive news on local school successes, sport (senior and junior) and general community events all have a better chance of being seen and promoted. As a result, they are all better supported by the community. The outcome on the Peninsula is there for all to see and this is also becoming evident in the remainder of the Wyong Local Government Area.

Concentration on a smaller area is also extended to local, state and federal government activities so that readers will be much more aware of what those organisations are doing in their area and how it will affect them. Those government bodies are also under greater public scrutiny than they have been in the past. The good things that they do receives much more exposure and conversely, anything that is not to the publicís liking is also exposed.

Wyong Regional Chronicle is a public forum for debate on local issues. All residents, community groups, businesses, employees and visitors to the area are encouraged to send in contributions, letters and notices on forthcoming activities or anything else that they feel readers will want to know about.

Businesses in the areas covered are some of the greatest beneficiaries of the Wyong Regional Chronicle, because they are now able to promote their products and services directly to their surrounding target market and not waste their advertising dollars on readers that are so far away that they are not likely to respond. They also only have their immediate competitors in the newspaper and with the much lower ratio of advertisements to editorial content in this newspaper, as well as the smaller number of pages for readers to get through and more time to read it, their advertisements are more easily seen and therefore more effective.

Wyong Regional Chronicle is a 6 column tabloid newspaper published on a Friday every fortnight. Advertising and booking deadline is COB Tuesday and editorial deadline is COB Wednesday 2 days before publication.
